COLOMA, Mich. -

This could be the last Labor Day for a local animal park that has seen its share of controversy.

The man running Deer Forest in Coloma recently sold at least half a dozen animals to try and make ends meet.

He also said in a recent Facebook post that the 65-year-old park may close for good after today.

Typically, Deer Forest is open 7 days a week between Memorial Day and Labor Day, then on weekends until Halloween.

The United States Department of Agriculture recently cited the park for improper care of the animals. That investigation involves a Chicago man who still owns the land and previously managed the park.

A separate USDA investigation is ongoing involving the husband and wife who run the park.
