South Bend's police chief wants to fire two of his officers, saying they didn't do their job and then lied about it.
Chief Ron Teachman says in January, Officers Jack Stilp and David Gnoth went to a woman's home with a warrant for her arrest.
Teachman says the woman was there, but they did not arrest her, and then Stilp filed a report saying she wasn't home.
The chief says Gnoth lied when asked about it by a supervisor.
Both officers have requested a hearing and will get one before the city's Board of Public Safety next month.
You may remember Officer Stilp was disciplined in 2012. He talked to a local television station about an internal complaint of intimidation he made against Metro Homicide Commander Tim Corbett.
The board concluded in doing that, Stilp released sensitive information and violated department rules.
