SOUTH BEND, Ind. -

Thanks but no thanks. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg says he has no plans to run for governor in 2016.

The Indianapolis Star reports Buttigieg and Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight are attracting attention for what they've done in their cities.

You may remember before winning the South Bend mayor's seat, Buttigieg lost a statewide race for Indiana treasurer in 2010.

His term as mayor ends next year. He tells us he is definitely running for re-election.

“That's very flattering, but I have zero interest in running for governor in 2016,” Buttigieg told WSBT. “I have the best job in the world as mayor of south bend. I'm going to concentrate on doing that job, and in 2015 I'm going to concentrate on keeping that job. That's more than enough to keep me busy.”

In just three days Buttigieg will deploy with the Naval Reserves for a six-month mission in Afghanistan.

One more name being tossed around in Democratic circles? House Minority Leader Scott Pelath of Michigan City.
