About 8,600 people will be putting their running shoes to the pavement Saturday for Sunburst races.
Some things will be different this year like the finish line.
It'll be near the stadium. but not inside it at the 50 yard line.
It's going to be sunny and hot and not much cloud cover.
Whether you're running or just watching make sure you stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.
The race director says they've got plenty of measures in place to help people stay safe during the races.
Lindsay Land stopped by the gridiron Friday to pick up her race packet.
She's from Kalamazoo.
It's her second time running a Sunburst race and this time she's doing the half marathon.
She says, "I'm feeling pretty good about it. I've been doing a lot of training and this is my third half marathon so I'm hoping to pr tomorrow."
Pr is runner lingo for personal record.
Land wishes it was going to be a little cooler but the race director says they've got the heat covered.
There will be plenty of water stations throughout the course and medical staff will be on hand to help people impacted by the hot weather.
Plus, race workers will be monitoring the heat and using a flag system to inform runners of the conditions.
Sandy Bentley came from Canada to run Sunburst.
She's one of the thousands who are helping to stimulate our local economy.
Valerie Hughes came from Alabama and she's running the marathon.
She chose Sunburst because her husband and sons are big Notre Dame fans.
Hughes says, "We're staying until Monday. We're going to actually try and tour the campus. We were excited that they were going to finish on the 50 yard line but even though they changed it it's a big deal to my husband and kids that they get to be near the stadium."
Security is another safety precaution race officials are taking very seriously.
Duffel bags aren't allowed but runners will be given clear, plastic bags to put their things in.
Bags aren't permitted along the race routes either.
Some proceeds from the race benefit Memorial Children's Hospital.
