A married couple lost everything in Katrina, then moved to Laplace thinking their home would be safe. Then came Hurricane Isaac.
Chuck and Zina Haas’s home in the Forest Ridge subdivision took on three feet of water, rendering it inhabitable.
Chuck and Zina are safe now staying with family in Metairie wondering why tragedy seems to follow them, “I think where ever we go the water follows me,” says Zina.
But the good people at St. Anna`s Episcopal Church step up, when fate strikes an evil blow a second time.
Father Bill Terry retold the horrific story Sunday in church about Chuck and Zina’s latest devastation, “I said, come on guys. Let's pitch in. Next thing you know we had this crew here.”
The volunteer crew was in Laplace on Labor Day ripping the house down to the studs, saving Chuck and Zina money they don't have if they hired somebody else.
In addition to the manual labor St. Anna’s is taking up a monetary collection to help the couple, Married 58 years and with family spanning five generations in the church, with further repairs.
Donations for Chuck and Zina Haase can be dropped off or mailed to at St. Anna’s Episcopal Church marked “Haase” fund at 1313 Esplanade Ave. New Orleans, LA 70116 or sent thru PayPal via www.Stannanola.org
