CONEY ISLAND (WPIX)—It's the annual battle between the Bravest and the Finest on the baseball field.
Tonight, the FDNY and the NYPD slugged it out in their annual charity baseball game at Coney Island's MCU park (formerly Keyspan Park).
The FDNY's assistant manager Lt. Joe Reznick is fighting for more than just bragging rights, he's got a bone to pick against his competitors.
The NYPD has won the slugfest two years in a row.
Lt. Reznick used to be a cop for 4 years and left the police force to join his 2 brothers in the fire department.
He says " The NYPD was great but this is much better. I like the comraderie. The guys in my firehouse are like brothers and we spend alot of time together. "
What makes it even more touchy, is that their father Joe Senior is the Commanding Offier of the NYPDNarcotics Division.
Joe Senior says "you have to have something in you to be a cop, and Joe didn't have it. he was honest and went to the FDNY. Tonight, it's hard this side while my boys are on the other side. But I'll walk away a winner regardless of who wins the game."
Tonight, the FDNY starting the inning with a 2 to 0 lead. But no matter who wins, the game is supporting a good cause. All proceeds go to charity, namely the Widows and Orphans Funds of both department.
