NEW YORK (WPIX)—You may start to hear the phrase "Tim-sanity" across the New York area - because quarterback Tim Tebow is headed to the New York Jets.
After a lot of back and forth between the Jets and the Denver Broncos, the deal was officially made.
After several hours, the teams reached an agreement: the Jets would send fourth and sixth round draft picks to Denver in exchange for Tebow and a seventh round draft pick.
The Jets also agreed to pay half of a $5 million salary advance to Tebow.
Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs last season and he rushed for 660 yards. The Broncos also beat the Jets in Denver back in November.
Now, many are wondering how the Tebow deal will affect Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, who just signed a three-year contract extension two weeks ago.
According to the Jets General Manager, Sanchez will remain as starting quarterback and Tebow is the new number two quarterback.
Tebow will likely be used in wildcat formations for the Jets.
The Jets new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano introduced the wildcat to the NFL while he was with the Miami Dolphins.
Tebow is also known off the field for his conservative values and strong Christian beliefs.
He was even part of a controversial anti-abortion TV ad with his mom that aired during the Superbowl in 2010.
The Broncos traded Tebow one day after they signed four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning as starting quarterback.
