School nurse in Wichita Falls does CPR, saves baby

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — A school nurse in Wichita Falls is credited with saving a baby on a day when classes normally would not be in session.

Mindy Bryant and her family live near Cunningham Elementary School.

Bryant on Wednesday described how school nurse Carolyn Poling did CPR and resuscitated her 6-month-old son, Jesse.

Bryant told KAUZ-TV that her son was napping on April 10, Good Friday, when she checked on him, and noticed a blanket was wrapped around his head.

Bryant undid the blanket, then realized her baby was unresponsive.

She grabbed the boy and ran across the street to the school, which was in session to make up for a February closure during icy conditions.

Poling says the baby looked pretty limp when he arrived, but he "came around" after three breaths.
