CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (AP) — Three-year-old Josh Childers, who was missing for about 52 hours last week, has been released from the hospital.

The child wandered away from his parents home in Madison Co. early Monday and was found Wednesday afternoon. He was released Saturday from Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.

Dr. Steven Crawford said the boy had moderate hypothermia, but he said he didn't anticipate any long term heath effects. Crawford said Josh talked about a dog that disappeared when he did and reappeared when he was found.

Crawford said having a dog around might help explain how the 35-pound child could stay alive in 40-degree weather in the rain for two nights and three days.

Crawford said Josh had numerous insect bites, but overall is healing well.
