SOUTH BEND — Over the last few days, anti-abortion protests have moved off the Notre Dame campus, impacting adults and even children in local communities. Some say it’s gone too far.

"I think it's completely wrong,” said Lynn Nemeth of Mishawaka.

Nemeth says her granddaughter recently witnessed trucks driving around South Bend with bloody anti-abortion images on them.

"She saw one of the pictures. She's 3 ½. I didn't get a chance to protect her. I didn't get a chance for her not to see it," said Nemeth.

The demonstrations against President Obama speaking at Notre Dame's commencement have heated up. Trucks are circling town and planes are flying overhead with very graphic pictures of aborted fetuses.

“It's actually kinda creepy,” said Anthony Heggler. “But I do believe that everybody still has a choice, you know, to make on their own.”

Nemeth says everyone has a right to express their views but children have a right not to be visually violated.

"School buses don't have an opportunity to protect the kids in the buses. Parents and grandparents don't have an opportunity to protect the innocent ones that are in the vehicles," Nemeth explained.

Many of those trucks with those graphic pictures have been driving back and forth along Ironwood in South Bend. Moms and grandmothers like Nemeth say although they are excited that President Obama is coming, they are ready for this protest to be over.

"I don't like the pictures being shown. They don't need to show those,” said Kathy Beasley of South Bend.

Nemeth is not taking anymore chances when it comes to her granddaughter.

"I'm going to have to drive in a different direction for the next two weeks, on a different route, so she doesn't see it," she said.

President Obama will give Notre Dame's commencement speech on Sunday, May 17.
