MILLCREEK, Utah—
Police are searching for a man who crashed through a bike shop at the Olympus Cove Mall in Millcreek Thursday night and it was all caught on surveillance video. The video shows the suspect took a look inside the Millcreek Bicycle store on 3400 South, then got into his SUV and backed into the front door of the store. He then walks right through the broken door and steals a bike.
Owner of Millcreek Bicycle Mike Hanseen says the man stole a $300 bike, one of the cheapest bikes in the store. The most expensive bike that costs $14,000 was left untouched. Hanseen says this is not the first time his store has been burglarized.
"We've been broken into several times and lost a lot of bikes before," Hanseen said in an exclusive interview with FOX 13. "I was flabbergasted to see that much damage to the building and then I realized after seeing the video what really had happened and I think it's hilarious. This guy's stupid."
Hanseen says the video got a clear shot of the suspect's license plate. Hanseen also says he believes the same suspect robbed his store before.
"He looks like the same person that shoplifted back in November just before Black Friday, stole a $50 computer and tried to return it," said Hanseen.
Hanseen says there is about $10,000 to $15,000 worth in damage to the door and glass of his store.
Another retailer in the Olympus Cove Mall who works at the Spring Mobile/AT&T store saw the video of the suspect on fox13now.com and recognized him. He believes it is the same man who shoplifted his store and several other AT&T shops.
Police have posted a $1,000 reward to find the suspect. Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact police.
