UNIONVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A 16-foot-tall inflatable Santa Claus that was stolen from a southern Indiana man's front yard has been returned along with a note of apology and $100.

Unionville resident Jason McClaren tells The Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/vPsMkQ ) that someone returned the deflated Santa to his yard early Saturday in a trash bag that also contained the apologetic note and the money.

McClaren had offered a $400 reward for information leading to the recovery of the Santa and two 6-foot tall penguins that were also stolen Wednesday. The penguins remain missing and McClaren said the anonymous apology was clearly not from the person who stole the decorations.

The typed note states that: "Returning your property is the right thing to do, and apologies for the thief who took it in the first place."
