Christmas is ruined for a family after grinches stole hundreds of dollars of presents from their home.
It happened at Robert and Becky Gillispie’s apartment in Beech Grove Sunday morning. The couple was gone for half an hour buying groceries when thieves broke in.
"We had four to five hundred dollars in presents underneath there," said Robert as he pointed to the Christmas tree.
It doesn't take long to see how much the couple loves Christmas. The tree and lights are up weeks early and the presents for family were already wrapped.
"If you were here and seen it two or three hours ago, you can't even walk through here. Everything was tore out," Robert said. "We feel very violated."
Along with some cash, jewelry and Robert’s pain medication; most of their presents are gone. The couple came home to find the door and padlock pried open and their bedroom ransacked. The burglars tried to take their flat-screen TV with them, but left it unplugged instead.
"Everything was out. All the jewelry was out on the floor," said Robert. "I mean, all over the place. They took my pain medicine so I probably have to suffer that out for the rest of the month."
The Gillispies said they no longer feel safe at home.
"We don't want to leave [the apartment] together," they said.
