At a time of year when Americans pay tribute to military veterans, Northwest Michigan Works! reminds such veterans, including those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, that it offers a variety of tools and tips to help them find jobs with businesses looking for skilled workers.
More than 750 Michigan National Guard members are deployed across the globe in support of the global war on terrorism. According to the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, that is down from over 1,800 only five months ago, with hundreds of soldiers recently returning from the Middle East to their families across the state.
Northwest Michigan Works! has service centers in Cadillac, Kalkaska, Manistee, Petoskey, and Traverse City. Each offers a broad spectrum of services to meet the needs of local businesses and assist those seeking employment. Services include local job postings, resumé assistance, support in finding qualified workers, interview facilities, information on and referral to business start-up, retention and expansion services, referral to sources for developing customized training programs and more.
Veterans, job seekers, families and employers can find the Northwest Michigan Works! Service Center closest to their home by visiting NWMichWorks.org.
