INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police determined that an informant's story was not true and will release four men arrested in connection with a bank robbery in which a pregnant teller was wounded, a prosecutor said Friday.

Marion County chief trial prosecutor David Wyser said several details that 25-year-old Shed James Jr., told police were inaccurate. One person supposedly involved in the robbery, for example, was at work during the time of the crime, Wyser said.

Wyser said police will release the men held on preliminary charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, but that James would be charged with false reporting.

The prosecutor's office planned a news conference Friday to release more information on the case. An Indianapolis police spokesman said he was looking into the information.

Meanwhile, police found a gold Dodge Intrepid that matches a description of a car used in the robbery and were investigating to see whether it was tied to the crime.

According to the report, an anonymous caller told authorities Tuesday evening that James had been talking about the robbery. Located by police, James said he helped plan the crime and identified other suspects. But he said he changed his mind about taking part while helping check out the bank and asked to be let out of the car.

Teller Katherin Shuffield, who is five months pregnant with twins, was critically wounded in the robbery Tuesday morning at a Huntington Bank branch.

Shuffield remained in critical but stable condition Friday at Methodist Hospital. She had been wounded in the abdomen and surgeons had to remove a section of her intestine, but the bullet missed the twins.

"She is resting and recovering slowly," her husband, Jason Shuffield, said in a statement. "She is still carrying our twin babies and the staff at Methodist Hospital is monitoring the situation closely."

Her mother-in-law, Greta Wagers, told WISH-TV that Shuffield went through another surgery Thursday and would be recovering in the hospital for about six weeks.
