ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Work is winding down on the Hoosier Park casino, as the 24-hour gambling center and its roughly 2,000 electronic games move closer to testing and opening dates.

The casino will open at 9 a.m. June 2, pending approval from the Indiana Gaming Commission, said Jim Brown, Hoosier Park's gaming general manager. But before that, thousands of invited guests will show up May 29 for two-hour gambling shifts to test the new equipment.

The 92,000-square-foot casino features high ceilings and wall-to-wall carpeting, with an elevated bar in the center and rows of electronic slot machines.

"This isn't a warehouse with slot machines," Brown said during a preview tour on Tuesday.

The center will blend gaming, horse track races and dining. Nine new bars and restaurants will fill Hoosier Park, including a full-service buffet, steakhouse and a New York-style delicatessen.

"We designed this facility to be a seamlessly integrated racino, gaming and dining facility," Brown said.

Live shows also could be added, with indoor space available to accommodate 500 people and outdoor space for about 5,000, according to Brown.

Hoosier Park employs about 550 people.
