DETROIT (AP) — A 16-year-old Livonia high school student has been charged as an adult in a car accident that killed a man and injured a woman.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Thursday Daniel Aldo Andreassi is being charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter with a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death.

Worthy says Andreassi used alcohol and marijuana before a May 18 crash that killed 20-year-old Anthony Michael Cosenza of Detroit and injured 20-year-old Amy Adams of Westland. Worthy says the teen drove at speeds of up to 109 mph before crashing into the vehicle carrying the victims.

Defense attorney Brian J. Stacey says the speeds were far less than 109 mph.

Stacey says a preliminary examination is July 1. Andreassi is being held in a juvenile detention facility.
