LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A group of state House Republicans wants more done to crack down on illegal immigration in Michigan.

A group of about a half-dozen lawmakers detailed a series of recommendations Wednesday.

They are pushing legislation that would call for an audit to document how much it costs the state to provide services to illegal immigrants. That could include per-pupil funding at K-12 schools, university aid and health care costs.

The lawmakers also want to make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses and other documents that help them remain in the country illegally.

The lawmakers said they don't want to impede legal immigration or the flow of traffic and business on Michigan's borders with Canada.
