A line of severe thunderstorms has swept across Michigan's Lower Peninsula, bringing heavy rains, strong winds and hail and blacking out about 207,000 homes and businesses.

Jackson-based CMS Energy Corp. says about 153,000 of its customers had no electricity late Wednesday, and some will be out until Saturday. Detroit-based DTE Energy Co. says about 54,000 customers lost power.

The storms uprooted trees, knocked over utility polls and flooded streets.

A lightning strike apparently sparked a house fire that caused a minor injury to a Grand Rapids firefighter.

WZZM-TV says Muskegon County got dime-sized hail and 60 mile-per-hour winds, and WOOD-TV reports an 87 mile-per-hour wind gust near Grand Haven. WWJ-AM says gusts reached 75 mph in Dexter.
