HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 24-year-old Livingston County man killed his dog in his living room and was later found wandering near a neighbor's home while covered in blood.

Howell radio station WHMI and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell report the man has been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation.

The man, whose name wasn't released, was spotted wandering Tuesday and taken into protective custody.

The Ann Arbor News reports the nearly beheaded body of the man's pit bull terrier was found inside his Hamburg Township home. The Detroit News reports police are seeking felony charges against the man.
