CHICAGO (AP) — Three people were shot, one fatally, as thousands left a pre-Independence Day fireworks display on Chicago's lakefront.

A 19-year-old man was shot in the head at a downtown intersection and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Chicago police spokeswoman Amina Greer said Friday .

Another man was shot in the arm, and taken to Northwestern, where he is reported in stable condition, Greer said.

A third man, who was grazed on the head by a bullet, walked into John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he was treated and released.

The names of none of the victims have been released.

One person is being held in connection with the shootings, and a weapon has been recovered, Greer said, adding the shootings appeared to be gang related.

More than a million people crowded the lakefront late Thursday for the annual fireworks display, according to Chicago officials.
