Plumber gets life in Michigan woman's slaying

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — A self-employed plumber has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing a woman in Macomb County and dumping her body in an Oakland County lake.

Thirty-eight-year-old David James Wright of Richmond was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Defense attorney Randy Rodnick says Wright plans to appeal. He cites a violation of his client's Miranda rights and other issues.

A jury convicted Wright last month of first-degree murder, kidnapping and larceny in the death of 50-year-old Marilou Johnson.

Authorities say the mother of three was attacked in June 2007 on the grounds of her gated estate in Washington Township, about 25 miles north of Detroit. Johnson's body was wrapped in a blanket, weighted down and dumped in Cass Lake.
