Environmentalists oppose more coal plants in MichiganBy DAVID EGGERT, Associated Press WriterLANSING, Mich. (AP) — Environmentalists say Michigan will be stuck with more coal-fired power plants if lawmakers don't significantly change an energy plan that has passed the state Senate. Activists stood outside the Michigan Capitol on Tuesday with large inflatable smokestacks to depict the dangers of coal plants such as acid rain and global warming. Environmentalists say energy legislation passed last month by Senate Republicans is a "travesty." The plan would require that a combined 7 percent of Michigan's power come from renewable sources, "clean" coal plants or be saved through energy efficiency by the start of 2016. The proposal isn't as robust as a House plan setting up energy-efficiency programs along with requiring 10 percent of power be green. |

The environmentalists also appose nuclear energy too! You can never make those hippies happy! They are the reason why gas is $4.19 a gallon.
