FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — A four-year-old boy was injured when he was run over by a carnival ride at a Fort Wayne park.

Vincent Govan's grandmother says the boy was run over two or three times by the ride's miniature cars, possibly breaking the boy's leg.

Vincent was with his family Thursday night at the Three Rivers Festival at Headwaters park.

His grandmother, Henrietta Williams, says Vincent was conscious and able to talk to his mother and paramedics as he was taken to a hospital.

Police say the boy may have become frightened and tried to climb off the ride, in which several small vehicles move in a circle.

Festival executive director Shannon White called the accident "very unfortunate." He said festival staff gave Vincent's family members a ride to the hospital.

Again everyone is quick to pass blame. 4 year old kids ride on kiddy rides. Parents aren't always allowed on the rides with them. I think better restraints on the rides should be enforced. Some of these kiddie rides may as well not even HAVE restraints because the ones they do have are loose, worn, broken, etc. Just because a ride goes slow doesn't mean it can't be dangerous. On that note, parents and carnies alike should be checking restraints and be SURE the kids can't slip, fall, climb out, etc

Yeah they were riding in REAL cars. NO they were riding in kiddie cars. They aren't going to let a 4 year old ride in a car by themselves. Common Sense.

it's not that hard of story to follow people.. He was most likely in the kiddy cars got scared stood up lost his balance and fell off trying to get up getting knocked down and run over. I think an ambulance should have taken him though not staff in case his neck was injured. Kids can tolorate alot of pain and they were not watching the children well enough. John Wesley, that test you were talking about to be able to have kids ya know? hopefully it wont include spelling so that you can have them.

Why are you putting the blame on the operator? They have to watch all the kids and the ride. IT IS THE Parents job to pay attention to their own children. It is posted ride at your own risk.

Look to the right of this column, 3 kids dead, all from stupidity, people today are to stupid or too lasy to have kids.

this is a very unfortunate accident and I hope the boy is ok. But you all are acting like your kids never went on a kiddy ride at the fair (adults are not allowed on kiddy rides). Why are you blaming the parent. If the person running the ride was paying attention he would have known something wasn't right and should have stopped the ride, but we all know they don't care who is on the ride as long as they get a paycheck. Fault is on the person running the ride. Fire him/her

There should be a test to take and a license issued, before people should be allowed to have kids, maybe stupid things like this wouldnt happen.

why is a 4 year old boy allowed on a ride by himself in the first place? because, had he been in the car with "someone" (perhaps a family member) he might not've jumped!?

I don't get it. Story doesn't include enough details. A four year old kid on a ride. Only 4. That's asking for problems.
