HEBRON, Ill. (AP) — McHenry County authorities say they found and seized $4 million worth of marijuana from two growing operations on bordering cornfields.

Authorities say the 2,000 plants were each between three and five feet tall. Sheriff's officials also say it appears the site was sophisticated and had been running longer than a year.

Police arrested 24-year-old Miguel Talavera-Lopez of Battle Creek, Michigan, who they say lived at the property in a camp and tended the crops. Talavera-Lopez was held at the McHenry County jail on $40,000 bond on a felony charge of unlawful production of cannabis plants.

A second man fled from deputies.

Police say they burned most of the plants except those they kept for evidence. They say U.S. Drug Enforcement agents spotted the field in a flyover.
