EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Members of an Evansville church are donating $4,500 to buy school supplies for all of the students at a nearby elementary school.

At Sunday's worship service, the pastor of Gethsemane Church will present Delaware Elementary School's principal with a $4,500 check. The money will be used to purchase school supplies for all 440 of students at the school a few blocks from the church.

Gethsemane pastor Dale Culbertson says his flock wants to make sure that each child at the school starts the school year with the tools they need.

Culbertson says his church has a responsibility to try and meet the spiritual needs of local residents, but particularly those of the people who live near the church.
