INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Crews have rescued three workers who were left dangling from a downtown Indianapolis high-rise building when their scaffolding collapsed.

The workers were left hanging about 15 stories off the ground, secured by the safety harnesses they had been wearing while working outside the 31-story M&I Bank building.

Rescuers were lowered down the side of the building to reach the workers and bring them to safety. Officials say the men were not seriously injured.

The men were part of a crew working to attach a sign at the 28th floor. The Fire Department says the workers were apparently descending for a shift change when their scaffolding broke. The scaffolding shattered several windows and was left hanging from one set of cables.

Authorities did not immediately say what caused the collapse.
