BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Two riders in an Amish buggy carrying five people have been hurt in a hit-and-run crash in southern Michigan's Butler Township.

The Branch County sheriff's office says the 16-year-old driver of the vehicle that collided with the buggy left the scene of Monday evening's accident but returned about an hour later.

Deputies say 67-year-old township resident Rachel Hilty suffered a severe leg injury and was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Her condition wasn't being released Tuesday morning.

The second victim was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall with shoulder and neck injuries. That person's identity and condition weren't available.

The sheriff's office is investigating.

Its not just the people behind the cars it also the buggies drivers some of them are not even what concerted a league driving age. All the Amish people have to do is buy a plate there is no age limit to drive buggies no test of the laws on the roads its sad that two people got hurt but shouldnt they follow the laws along with the drivers of the road? also the horse droping on the roads get allover the place a land on your car along where the horses walk leave big ruts in the road

People buggies just crawl along and if you live in areas where they share the road drive accordingly! I feel for the 16 year old kid. he will have this to think about for the rest of his driving career!
