DETROIT (AP) — A Livonia high school student will spend up to 15 years in prison in a drunken-driving car crash that killed one person.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Deborah Thomas sentenced Daniel Aldo Andreassi to five to 15 years in prison on Thursday.

The 16-year-old pleaded no contest on Aug. 7 to motor-vehicle manslaughter, operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and two lesser charges. A no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as one at sentencing.

Prosecutors say Andreassi used alcohol and marijuana before a May 18 high-speed crash that killed 20-year-old Anthony Michael Cosenza of Detroit and injured 20-year-old Amy Adams of Westland.

Defense attorney Jerome Sabbota says the plea deal was reasonable and fair.

anyone who drinks and drives is not old enough to drink, no matter what their birthdate is.....people who drink and drive and risk the lives of other people are immature even if they are 20 or 30.

Mary this kid is not 18 he is 16. Big difference between 16 and 18. Look at how many 20 and 30 year old people get arrested. Are you saying they are not old enough to drink to.
