MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a 42-year-old woman found dead last month in her blood-splattered Macomb County condo with no signs of injury to her body died after drinking too much water.

But the source of the blood remains a mystery. Authorities still are awaiting tests to find out whether it was Andrea Jean Bean's blood on some walls of the home. There was no blood on Bean or the bed where she lay.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reported Friday that the mother of three died of very low sodium levels. County Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz said she had a psychological condition that led her drink a fatal amount of water.

Spitz said he considered the death an accident.

A nanny found Bean's body July 29 in her Macomb Township condo about 25 miles north of Detroit.

maybe the blood was her exploding after she drank too much water? NOT! Seriously, a few people THINK they can lose weight if they drink water. It's those fanatical ones that get themselves into deep, deep trouble. I know, I'm a sick person so just let me climb back under the rock I came from.

you can die from drinking too much water. I believe it causes the brain to swell. Paul Harvey had a story about it back in the mid 90's.

i love what warbaby42 wrote its all common sense. i would just like to put my 2 cents in i take seizure medicine that can deplete your sodium levels and it also makes you have dry mouth so im always drinking alot of h20 but my neorologist checks my levels,i dont see how u can over drink h20 without getting sick to your stomach and if she was on any medication her dr. should have been checking her i think this needs more investigating my prayers go out to the family.

to jeez, there are a lot of people who cannot drink those ex. gatorade due to sugar count in them and yes, many people can 'google', however many more cannot not... the paper still needs to put info out there for those people... nor can everyone who does have a pc sit around forever googling things that a news article should have clarified to begin with! do a story do it complete! during the heat we're reminded to drink a lot of water as well for our cleansing, so tell us more for our safety!!!

It's hard to drink too much water. You have to sit there and drink water all day. But it's easy to be dehydrated, and most of us are most of the time. Drink a full glass of cold water before every meal. You'll be hydrated (remember, the brain works like a battery, it needs to sit in water - drink a glass of water and feel energy return and the cob webs clear) you'll eat less and lose weight. I'm betting there will be an update that this woman drank too much water and was taking blood thinners.

Drinking too much water causes a loss of sodium and electrolyte shift. A drastic electrolyte shift can cause your heart to go into a fatal dysrhythmia.

Come on everyone... if you're active and worried about drinking too much water, there are PLENTY of drinks like gatorade out there that will hydrate while maintaining a healthy sodium/potassium balance. It aint rocket science and NONE of this is new information that is suddenly being DISCOVERED for the first time. And to anyone here who is surprised at learning that too much water can be fatal, and asking for more info... um, duh, there's this little thing now called "Google" now. use it.

Moderation in all things. A lot of oddball ideas are being expounded by so-called health experts, even doctors. Use your God-given common sense and listen to your body's inner voice. It will tell you when to drink, rest, eat and eliminate. Eat only natural foods (no added chemicals, preferably raw) and avoid anything refined (white sugar and flour), booze and drugs. You will experience a spiritual high and great joy. Be your own person and tell the modern world to go to hell. Be free and live!

I drank too much water and ended up calling the ambullance; I knocked the sodium out of my body as I do not salt my food. My Dr had me spend the night & went home the next morning. I am 64, healthy, and have never been sick. Now, I use pennies to make sure I do not drink more than 8 glasses a day. I am an avid walker and need the water.

I never knew a person could drink too much water! I'm always hearing about people not drinking enough water. The blood on the walls seems odd though, and I think her death should be investigated more thoroughly. My condolences to the family of this woman.
