COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A minister led a prayer for justice during a candlelight vigil for a Columbus teen shot to death last weekend while egging cars.

Rev. Ruth Pribe of Trinity United Methodist Church also said that the hundreds who gathered Tuesday night outside Garrett Burton's high school pray that his killer steps forward.

The boy's father says the 16-year-old was shot in the head by someone who walked up and scolded Garrett and some friends while they were tossing eggs at passing cars around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say the other boys haven't offered any useful details. Police have no suspects.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR GARRET AND HIS FAMILY--IF this was your child that is all you would want along with the person turning himself in along with the FULL TRUTH of what happened. Just remember one of four things can happen: 1) Be a MAN and turn yourself in 2) Someone will talk and tell all that had happened in detail 3) Eventually down the road you will end up getting yours 4) Remember we all have to meet our Maker one day and Judgment will be placed upon you GOD BLESS YOU GARRETT

I feel for the family of Garrett for they will not see his handsome face anymore nor will they get grandchildren from him but yet this human being(if you can him that) is still able to breath the air---DO YOU CALL THAT FAIR? I am not condoning what Garrett and his friends did and yes, they all should have been scolded--NOONE SHOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OVER ANYTHING SO CHILDISH AS THROWING EGGS Put yourself in Garrett's parents shoes-they trusted another parent with their son and now he is gone

CONTINUED: how can you live with yourself knowing you walked up or drove up to a young man and shot him in his head and killed him? Did you not think about what you were doing before you did it? Can you really sleep at night, seeing this young man's face as you shot him in the head? How could you only shoot one young man and not the others(not saying you should have-just this makes no sense to me-of how you could have shot one young man n noone else) TURN YOURSELF IN AND BE A MAN

CONTINUED:: Garrett got caught up with his friends and like any teen he wanted to be like his friends--that is not on the parents of Garrett's but the parents of the son/s of whom Garrett was to be staying the night with. The only ones whom really know the TRUTH of what happened to Garrett are the other young men whom were with Garrett and they all should come forward and tell all. To the person whom shot Garrett should be a MAN and come forth cause eventually you will be found, my thing is

Not hear to start anything.... First - Not everyone does this/these sort of thing/s but like forking a yard, egg throwing, the choking game, sniffing things, drugs, under age sex and pregnancy, ETC... can name so much more---any kid can get caught up in so much and parents need to know this from the start when having a child to began with and all the parent can do is guide your child in the right direction but there will always be that temptation from others. The parents are divorced and

Yes it was a very stupid thing of the kids to be out egging, but no reason to die how many times have we when we was kids teepee houses or egg cars? It's wrong but kids will be kids. I hope the truth comes out for everyone's sake. Good Luck!

Dg You should learn how to spell so your post doesn't come across so stupid. Ever hear of spell check? The father offered no explanation of why he and his wife didn't have a clue why their 16 year old is out at 3:00 am. All he said was he was shot in the head. It was wrong to kill him. I agree. It was a foolish decision some idiot made that cost him his life. NO 16 year old needs to be out causing trouble at 3:00 am. This is the kind of retaliation that happens. Really sad!

Wait a minute. As new details unfold, I think there's more to this than we know. This guy went up to them to scold, as should be, what did the boys do that would provoke this man to shoot. Self-Defense possibly? I'm all for EVERYONE carrying guns, but kids out raising cain, being onery, met up with the wrong fella, who wasn't about to take a buttwhoopin, or maybe he did just walk up & flat-out shoot him. I think we'll see more facts come out.

1:09 GS is right. We don't always know what our children are doing. You may think they are safely sleeping at a friend's house, or grandma's house, or tucked into their own beds. Kids will sneak out with their friends and do things they shouldn't do just for a little excitement. Egging was probably the worst thing the kid ever did and he was killed for it. Nobody's kids are perfect and none of us are either. The shooter committed outright murder.

It's hard to have sympathy for this kid. When you go around tearing up people's property, you're bound to run into someone who's not all there and reacts violently. Bet his buddies won't egg cars anymore.

Linda, I notice that you said what kind of father would let his teen run around, well what about the mother. Also, you can't control your kids after hours when they sneak out or stay at a friends house. I know everyobdy is going to hit me on this, but you know what, we all did it and it is not going to stop (even I did it).

I could respect the scolding but flat out murder. Thats crazy. One point though. What kind of a father would let his 16 year old run the street at 3:00 am. At that hour, they are looking for trouble and apparently found it.
