FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Allen County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a series of saddle thefts in rural areas around Fort Wayne.

In the most recent incident, 20 saddles and bridles were taken from a nonprofit horse rescue farm. The Chocolate Box Rescue reported that the donated saddles were taken from an unlocked barn sometime late last week.

Police are also investigating the theft of two saddles from a horse barn on Aug. 25. Two saddles were also taken from another barn on June 4. In both cases, the owners told police nothing else was taken.

Detectives believe the thief may attempt to sell the saddles.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Stone reminded horse riders and rural residents to lock up their saddles and other valuables.
