FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) — A prosecutor has charged a woman with reckless homicide and driving while intoxicated for a crash that killed a Frankfort utility worker in May.

Forty-one-year-old Shelvie J. McDole entered a plea of not guilty and asked to have a court-appointed attorney during a court appearance Wednesday.

Clinton County Prosecutor Anthony Sommer says charges against McDole were delayed because his office had been waiting on a crash reconstruction report from the sheriff's department and a preliminary report from the coroner.

Twenty-five-year-old Bryan Osbon was struck by an SUV on Indiana 28 while working with a five-person crew from Frankfort's City Light and Power near the city about 25 miles southeast of Lafayette.

McDole was released from jail on her own recognizance. Sommer says she is a former resident of Clarks Hill, Ind., but moved to Ohio after the crash.

What seems to be left out here, and in previous stories about this is the fact that they not only had flaggers but took other precautions with cones, etc. As a lineman, I have seen lots of idiot drivers while directing traffic, and have been hit two separate times while I was up in the bucket truck. People driving while intoxicated should have the book thrown at them anyway, despite their celebrity. But this woman pinned an innocent man up against a truck. Life in prison is what she deserves.
