BATTLE GROUND, Ind. (AP) — A woman who won a $10,000 sewing machine said she's thrilled with the high-tech device, which features Internet access, a computer screen and other gadgetry.

"I just wish it would cook for me," joked Georgia Hahn of her Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond sewing machine.

Hahn, 71, won the sewing machine in a worldwide drawing staged by the Swedish company.

Not only does the high-end machine have limited Internet access and a vertical computer screen, it has two USB ports and software. The user can also plug in an iPod or MP3 player and listen to music while sewing.

Hahn said her husband, Robert, is reading the manual to figure out its various functions.

"He is more technical-minded than me," she said.

The machine has 170-plus stitch designs and Hahn can also download hundreds more designs into the machine's computer.

"I just do basic stitches now. It ought to be a lot of fun when I learn more," she said.

The Designer Diamond was introduced in mid-June and retails for $8,999, but with taxes and shipping costs, the price is almost $10,000. Hahn said she will sell her older Viking Designer 1 sewing machine to pay for taxes on the new Designer Diamond model.

Husqvarna Viking dealer Rita Frebert said she will provide Hahn with lessons for a year at her West Lafayette store, Viking Sewing and Stitch Art.

"It is expensive and not everybody needs one. But if you have the money and the interest, you couldn't ask for any better technology," she said.
