CLIMAX TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A 54-year-old woman has been hospitalized after spending a stormy weekend stranded in a Kalamazoo County cornfield.

WWMT-TV reports the Climax Township woman was in stable condition Monday morning after search crews, led by the Michigan State Police's K-9 unit, found her Sunday night. She says her car got stuck Friday night, and she tried to walk for help but fell and couldn't get up.

The extent of her injuries isn't known.

The woman tells authorities she pulled down corn stalks to lay on and ate candy she had in her pocket.

Police say the woman's family reported her missing Sunday.

Flooding caused by the weekend rain forced the closure of several streets in Kalamazoo.
