Baby found in garbage pile

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. (AP) — A 2-week-old baby girl has been found in a pile of garbage in a western suburb of Chicago.

Police say someone picking through a garbage pile looking for salvageables found the baby girl in Franklin Park on Tuesday morning. Authorities say the baby was covered in a light blue blanket and sitting in a car-seat carrier.

The baby has been turned over to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
