BRAZIL, Ind. (AP) — A portion of Interstate 70 in western Indiana reopened about nine hours after a semitrailer carrying a load of glass ran off the highway, striking a cement culvert and a bridge support.

State police say an Illinois truck driver was killed in the crash. It occurred Monday morning about 20 miles east of Terre Haute. No other vehicles were involved.

The truck driver was identified as 48-year-old Ronald Frazier of Nokomis, Illinois.

State police say the truck was carrying glass, which spilled onto the roadway and the ditch.

Police closed the eastbound lanes of I-70 as crews cleaned up the broken glass and spilled diesel fuel. Other highways in the area were crowded with traffic diverted from I-70.
