Man kills self after accidentally shooting brother

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say they are investigating the apparent suicide of a 28-year-old man who reportedly shot himself after accidentally shooting his 18-year-old brother in the head.

Police said in a statement early Monday that Brandon Thomas and his brother were walking on West 71st St. about midnight when Thomas attempted to shoot a dog. The bullet struck the brother instead.

Thomas fled in a car and was stopped by police. As officers approached the vehicle, Thomas put a gun to his head and fired. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says he was pronounced dead a short time later. The younger brother was reported in critical condition early Monday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The name of the younger brother was not immediately released.

Slow your role cupcake and think about it. If you shoot the brother, there IS a chance he might live. If it were REALLY an accident, chances are you would have just been crying to the police trying to explain yourself. Sorry to hear about the loss and the incident with the other brother.
