MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — A mother and daughter were killed when a train collided with their truck on a stretch of railroad tracks in southwest Ohio.

Middletown Patrol Officer Geoff Getter says both women were ejected from the small truck when it collided with the train in a residential area on Sunday afternoon.

Police are investigating why the truck was in the path of the train.

Getter says 46-year-old Teri Biars of Middletown was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, 29-year-old Christina Mason, also of Middletown, was transported to Atrium Medical Center, where she later died.
