Fugitive couple from Indiana arrested in Texas

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A couple wanted in Indiana on child molestation charges were arrested at the disabled veterans boarding home where they worked as caretakers after a neighbor called police.

Bradley "Butch" Chase, and his wife, Luann, were featured on "America's Most Wanted" on Saturday. They fled Evansville, Ind., in 2000 after allegedly admitting to molesting two children over a span of years.

They were working as live-in caretakers at a north San Antonio boarding home.

Neighbor Judy Balson, 64, told the San Antonio Express-News that she recognized the couple and called police on Sunday morning.

"My thought was to go into action," said Balson, who didn't immediately recognize the couple from the older photos but soon realized Luann Chase was her neighbor. "There are kids right across the street from them."

Luann Chase was expected to plead guilty to four felony charges in 2000 when she, instead, said her husband forced her to commit the sex acts.

The couple fled after posting bond and hid in Brownsville for about a month before moving to San Antonio, said Joe Rios, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department.

The couple had been using the names Gary and Lisa Nelson.

When officers approached the house on Sunday, Bradley Chase identified himself as Gary Nelson, but Luann Chase admitted her identity, Rios said. Her husband resisted arrest and insisted he was not Bradley Chase.

Luann Chase "gave him up. She told (police), Yeah, that's us,'" Rios said. "She said, I'm kind of relieved this happened after being on the run.'"

Elusive Justice, Frying is too good for them. I think that 40 years in jail getting what child molesters receive would barely be a down payment for what they did.

I agree with you Bee. The only way he would get away with what he did would be over my dead body and I mean that. She did nothing and chose to do nothing. She is as guilty maybe even more since she did nothing.
