PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Two 14-year-old boys have been charged with first-degree murder after Pontiac police say they beat a homeless man to death.

Thomas McCloud Jr. and Dontez Tillman are charged as adults. The Jefferson Middle School classmates stood silently during their arraignment Wednesday before being ordered held without bond.

If convicted as adults, they face life in prison without parole.

Defense lawyers haven't been named in the murder case.

Police say the boys Aug. 21 attacked 61-year-old Wilford Hamilton, who died Aug. 25.

Police also say the boys Aug. 22 attacked another homeless man, 65-year-old Lee Hoffmann. The boys and a 15-year-old classmate were charged as juveniles with assault, but Hoffmann died Tuesday and prosecutors say charges could be upped.
