Ohio mom gets 18 months for prostituting daughter

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A judge has sentenced a southwest Ohio woman to 18 months in prison for trying to work her 17-year-old daughter as a prostitute.

A Montgomery County judge told Rachel White on Monday that her actions were "disgusting," and she verbally agreed.

Sheriff's deputies say they found the 39-year-old woman and a man prostituting the girl at a Dayton-area hotel in April.

Judge A.J. Wagner gave White the maximum penalty on her guilty plea to a felony charge of attempting to compel prostitution by a minor. He listed her as a sex offender and gave her a simultaneous sentence of 3 months for child endangering.

Her daughter attended the sentencing but didn't speak.

The man, Michael Melvin, was sentenced in July to a year in prison.
