NOVI, Mich. (AP) — Police say last weekend wasn't the first time a security guard from Flint has been in trouble for pretending to be a police officer.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard tells WHMI-FM that 22-year-old William Byron Burton has been caught impersonating an officer six times, including his Nov. 1 arrest in Highland Township, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.

Burton was arraigned Friday in Novi District Court on charges of impersonating a public officer and illegal use of a flashing light in a vehicle.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the area where he was caught.

Burton did not have an attorney on record with the court. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Dec. 3.
