HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say icy road conditions from storms that hit the Great Lakes are to blame for two crashes that claimed three lives in Michigan.

State police say a pickup truck in which two 18-year-olds were riding skidded on an icy roadway Monday night in Oakland County's Holly Township, struck a tree and overturned into a pond.

The Flint Journal identifies Monday's victims as Casey Blays of Holly and Dontae Miller of Groveland Township. The crash site is about 40 miles northwest of Detroit.

WDIV-TV says both died at Genesys Health Park hospital.

Police in Genesee County's Gaines Township say a 42-year-old Durand resident was trying to pass another vehicle when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree Tuesday.
