TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Federal authorities have arrested 20 Terre Haute-area residents on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

More than 100 officers began making arrests Thursday morning. A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office said all 20 suspects were arrested by Friday morning.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad Blackington says the indictments represent two separate rings of suspected meth traffickers.

He says one group brought meth from a source in Indianapolis and distributed it in the Terre Haute area.

Blackington said the other group of acquired meth in Indianapolis and Arizona and transported it to Terre Haute for distribution to other dealers.

He says the two groups were responsible for the distribution of 3 to 5 pounds of meth per week in Vigo County.
