PEKIN, Ill. (AP) — A central Illinois woman serving a 36-year prison sentence for suffocating her autistic daughter has been ordered to repay a $210,000 loan from her parents.

Karen McCarron was ordered to pay the money Friday in Tazewell County Circuit Court.

Her parents, Robert and Erna Frank, filed a lawsuit in October saying they loaned her $210,000 to pay her legal fees during her murder trial and she never paid it back. The lawsuit said McCarron verbally promised to pay them back the money.

McCarron was found guilty in January of suffocating her 3-year-old autistic daughter with a plastic bag.

The 40-year-old Morton woman was convicted on two counts of murder, obstructing justice and concealment of a homicidal death.
