MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Freezing rain has iced over roads in the Muncie and Marion areas, sending salt trucks and wreckers into ditches.

The Indiana State Police says secondary roads in Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Jay and Randolph counties are a sheet of ice and generally too slick to drive on. State and U.S. highways are wet, slushy and ice-covered.

The Star Press of Muncie reports that wreckers have stopped responding to accident scenes because when they try to winch vehicles out of ditches, the winch pulls the wreckers off the road.

Five Delaware County Highway Department trucks have slid into ditches while applying sand and salt.

State police say Interstate 69 about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis is wet with scattered slick spots.
