INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A fourth-grade boy was struck and killed by a school bus outside a public school on the north side of Indianapolis.

City police Lt. Jeff Duhamell said 10-year-old Christopher Beltz got off one bus, ran between some parked cars and then in front of another bus that struck him outside Spring Mill Elementary School Friday morning.

Duhamell says the bus driver has been interviewed and the accident is under investigation. The bus will be inspected and the driver will be given a test for drugs, which is normal in a fatality. Police said the driver tested negative for alcohol.

Classes continued at the Washington Township school, and counselors were made available to talk with students.
