Accident causes Whitley County power outage

Customers in a small community about 5 miles east of Pierceton, Ind., were without power early Wednesday.

There was no immediate word on how many people were affected after an accident caused the outage for Northeast REMC customers near Larwell, dispatchers for Whitley County said.

The accident happened when a semi-truck traveling along Indiana 5 hit a utility pole.

No one was injured in the crash.

Utility crews were working to get a new pole up as quickly as possible, authorities said.
