HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — An Amtrak train had two of its cars derail in northwestern Indiana but was able resume its journey to Chicago. No passengers or crew were in the derailed cars, so no one was hurt.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the last two cars of the Lake Shore Limited train derailed Tuesday morning in Hammond. Neither the passenger coach nor the baggage car was occupied.

He says those two cars and third car that also was damaged were left behind when the train resumed its trip about two hours later.

The train carrying 156 passengers plus crew departed from the East Coast.
